Abel Tasman National Park is like a paradise escape, and we wanted to show it as a mini-world of its own. Here we took a panaromic source image, and distorted it to polar coordinates, making it appear like a small planet.

Judges’ comments

This is an elegant piece of design work. The shape of Abel Tasman National Park is celebrated, while the 'swirl' of the imagery and deep blue background suggest a view into another world, another time and space (precisely the experience one might have in the park). This poster is elegant, confident, and evocative. The use of Creative Commons licensed graphics and LINZ GIS data as source material was especially appreciated by the judges.
